In this video message, Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Violence against Children Marta Santos Pais reflects on six years of progress since the landmark 2006 UN Study on Violence against Children.

The SRSG highlights key achievements in child protection — including new legislation banning corporal punishment, strengthened national child protection systems, and the growing global movement to end all forms of violence against children — while calling for renewed commitment and accelerated action.

"Six years ago, the UN Study on Violence against Children shone a light on the scale of violence affecting children everywhere. Since then, we have made real progress. But progress is not enough — we need transformation," said SRSG-VAC Marta Santos Pais.

The video was produced as part of the SRSG's advocacy work ahead of the presentation of her annual report to the United Nations General Assembly.
