Adopted by the Human Rights Council at its 25th session on 26 March 2014.
The Human Rights Council,
Reaffirming its previous resolutions on the rights of the child and on violence against children, and recalling the United Nations Study on Violence against Children (2006),
Recalling the mandate of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Violence against Children, established by the General Assembly in resolution 62/141,
Welcoming the ongoing work of the Special Representative to promote the prevention and elimination of all forms of violence against children in all settings, and to raise global awareness and political commitment to address violence against children,
Urging States to fulfil their obligations under international human rights instruments, in particular the Convention on the Rights of the Child and its Optional Protocols, and to take all necessary measures to protect children from all forms of violence,
Encouraging States to strengthen national child protection systems and to invest adequately in programmes designed to prevent and respond to violence against children,
Calling upon States to ensure that child-sensitive approaches are integrated across all areas of child protection policy and practice.
