Seventh High-Level Cross-Regional Roundtable on the Prevention and Elimination of Violence against Children - Manila, Philippines 6-8 June 2017

06/06/2017 - 08/06/2017

The Seventh Cross-Regional Round Table organized by the office of SRSG in Manila, Philippines from 6-8 June, will place special emphasis on the links between eliminating violence against children and the eradication of child poverty and the promotion of children's social inclusion, including in light of the development of child-friendly health, education and social services, and the fostering of cross-sectoral cooperation to prevent and address violence against children.

The 2017 Round Table will include a public session with the participation of a broad range of stakeholders during which two main themes will be addressed: the protection of children from bullying and online abuse and the empowerment and participation of children to prevent and address incidents of violence.

During the 2017 Cross-Regional Round Table, participants will have the opportunity to engage with children and young people from the ASEAN region who will be participating in a consultation taking place concurrently with the Round Table.

The young participants will discuss the role of child participation in combatting violence against children, the protection of children from sexual abuse and exploitation in the digital environment, and opportunities for international cooperation in the context of the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The Seventh High-Level Cross-Regional Round Table on the Prevention and Elimination of Violence against Children will also provide a strategic platform to explore how regional organizations and institutions can build on their existing work and use the framework provided by the 2030 Agenda to accelerate progress in children’s protection from all forms of violence.
